Lion Cao’s principals have a strong track record of identifying and backing (seeding or day one or early investor) superior operating and fund management teams, including Sun Capital Partners, Fortress, JC Flowers, Arden Asset Management and ChrysCapital (India).
Lion Cao principals have also developed a special relationship with key wealthy families in South and Central America as well as US, Europe and Asia. Many of these families own and control major industries in their respective countries.
Given the broad sector and geographic reach of these funds and the close relationships developed over the years, Lion Cao principals have unique “ground-level” access to management teams, the industries in which they operate and the market forces they deal with around the world. Lion Cao’s joint venture on the Ajia Partners Opportunity Fund with Ajia Partners, an Asia-focused alternative investment firm, for example, gives Lion Cao access to local expertise within Northern Asia.
Lion Cao principals have started and operated private equity funds and fund-of-funds of their own and have managed significant pools of capital. They have invested directly into a broad range of sectors – financials, real estate, industrials, media and technology, distressed assets and consumer products and services.
Wherever possible, Lion Cao principals invest alongside its investors, manage investors’ capital as their own, and reject far more deals than they accept.
